Search for Chinese Resources
ChineseNet 1.0 consists of brief reviews of a variety of resources available in the Chinese language-learning field. Foci of this database include the following resource topic areas:
- Pre-collegiate Chinese language learning textbooks and materials
- Traditional Chinese literature and culture
- Science and technology
- Government-managed websites
- Chinese language search engines
While the primary audience for these reviews is Chinese language teachers, virtually all of the resources are also of use to students of Chinese.
ChineseNet 1.0 has been developed by members of the Chinese Language Task Force, a working subgroup of the Chinese Language Field Initiative (CLFI). Funded by The Henry Luce Foundation, CLFI was a three-year project awarded to the National Council of Organization of Less Commonly Taught Languages (NCOLCTL), and led by members of the Chinese Language Teachers Association (CLTA) and the Chinese Language Association of Secondary-Elementary Schools (CLASS), with administrative support and consultative expertise provided by the National Foreign Language Center. ChineseNet 1.0 is one of the three key pieces of the Initiative, the purpose of which was to strengthen the architecture of the Chinese language field at the post-secondary level, and ultimately in all instructional settings, by (1) enabling and sustaining field-based collaborative strategic planning, (2) performing critical research on the strengths and needs of the Chinese language field, and (3) developing a national collaborative mechanism for field and program development through resource sharing.

Hong Gang Jin, Hamilton College
