Dictionary of Hausa Crafts
Description: The present specialized dictionary is a contribution to both dialects and culture. It contains the active vocabulary of Hausa craftsmen in Northern Nigeria at the time of the data collection (1989-1994) in the following seventeen trades: building trade, dyeing with indigo, dyeing with vegetable fibres, wickerwork, tanning, blacksmith trade, manufacturing of pots made out of skin, woodworking, calabash mending, calabash decorating, leatherwork, sewing and embroidering, beetling of fabric, spinning, pottery, weaving and smithing.
